Use this estimated cost of attendance to help determine how much money you'll need to attend UC San Diego’s Rady School of Management's Master of Quantitative Finance Program (MoQF), and how much financial aid you may need to meet that goal. This estimated cost of attendance is based on four terms, full-time enrollment during the academic year and less than half-time enrollment in the summer as a graduate/professional student.

  1. The Cost of Attendance (COA) does not include the one-time Document fee of $100. COA and award packages are automatically adjusted for incoming students.

  2. The Cost of Attendance (COA) includes the $150 annual Rady Student Activity fee.

  3. The Cost of Attendance (COA) includes the annual UC San Diego Graduate Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP) of $5,643. Read more on how to use UC SHIP or how to waive UC SHIP. (May be waived if covered by private insurance that is equivalent or better.)

  4. Non-California resident and international students are not charged a Non-California Resident Supplemental Tuition cost. Non-California residents will be considered for Federal Direct Loans only. International students will also be billed a one-time International Student Visa Administration fee of $150. International students may apply for Private Education Loans to assist with educational costs.

  5. The Rady Master of Finance MoF California and Non-California Resident Basic Budget Total is $129,998 based on the criteria in footnote #8.

  6. The Cost of Attendance (COA) above is based on a student living off-campus. A student living on-campus will have a different COA and can refer to the graduate student cost of attendance budgets for the various components and costs Graduate Students Cost of Attendance.

  7. Books, course materials, supplies, and equipment costs are included in each term’s fees amount and are provided to each student. *Course Materials Opt-Out: students may opt out of textbook and course materials coverage by emailing the Director of Graduate Student Services at gradstudentaffiars@rady.ucsd.edu. Please include “ MoQF Course Materials Opt-Out” in your email subject line.

  8. Rady Master of Quantitative Finance new students entering Fall 2024 pay $1,537 per credit unit. The academic year is based on 16 credit units Fall term, 16 credit units Winter term, and 16 credit units Spring term, and 4 credit units Summer term. Actual units taken may vary based on each student’s enrollment. The 12-month and the 15-month Rady Master of Quantitative Finance Program requires 52 credit units for completion.

  9. The Food & Housing category includes a cost for Snacks & Meals Out. The Snacks & Meals out included in the On-Campus Food & Housing cost is $8910. The Snacks & Meals out included in the Off-Campus Food & Housing cost is $8,910.

  10. The Miscellaneous personal expenses category will be adjusted, along with federal financial aid for students enrolled less than half-time (i.e., less than 6 units). Miscellaneous personal expenses are indirect costs that are not billed to your student account.
  11. Students with Dependents will be given a separate allowance in their cost of attendance.

Financial Assistance Information:

  • Students may submit Cost of Attendance Add-On forms with appropriate documentation for rent and utilities, transportation costs, computer purchases and/or increased books and supplies. Submission of a request does not guarantee an approval.

  • Financial Aid and Scholarships Office provides Federal Direct Unsubsidized and Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loans and requires the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Private Education Loans are available for domestic and international students. Inquire at the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office for lenders that accept international applicants. Your Major Department and/or the Graduate Division may provide other forms of financial support. You may be required to complete and submit the FAFSA to be considered for some types of graduate awards. FAFSAs are available beginning October 1st every year. 

  • Students who are unable to complete the FAFSA and/or California Dream Act Application or who are enrolled in less than half-time (6 units), may be able to apply for a private loan. Private Education Loans are available for domestic and international students. Inquire at the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office for lenders that accept international applicants.
