This cost of attendance applies to both entering and continuing full-time GPS students.

  1. All new UC San Diego professional and graduate students will be billed a one-time Document fee of $100, which is not included in the Tuition/Fees amount.

  2. The Cost of Attendance (COA) includes the UC Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) of $3,900. Students may opt out of the UC Student Health Insurance Plan. For additional UC SHIP information, visit https://wellness.ucsd.edu/studenthealth/insurance/uc-ship/Pages/default.aspx.

  3. Non-California resident students pay Non-Resident Supplemental Tuition (currently estimated to be $12,246 annually) in addition to charges paid by in-state students. Resident and Non-Resident graduate students will only be awarded Federal Direct Unsubsidized and Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loans to help meet their educational costs. Private Education Loans are also available for domestic and international students. Loans must be repaid. Inquire at the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office for lenders that accept international applicants.

  4. All new UC San Diego international students will be assessed a one-time Visa Administration fee of $100, which is not included in the Tuition/Fees amount.

Please keep in mind, the Cost of Attendance listed above is based on actual student average expenses.

  • Students may submit Cost of Attendance Add-On forms with appropriate documentation for rent and utilities, transportation costs, computer purchases and/or increased books and supplies. Submission of a request does not guarantee an approval.

  • Financial Aid and Scholarships Office provides Federal Direct Unsubsidized and Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loans and requires the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Private Education Loans are available for domestic and international students. Inquire at the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office for lenders that accept international applicants. Your Major Department and/or the Graduate Division may provide other forms of financial support. School of Global Policy & Strategy Fellowships & Financing and Military & Families. You may be required to complete and submit the FAFSA to be considered for some types of graduate awards. FAFSAs are available beginning October 1st every year. Priority funding deadline is March 2nd every year.

  • Students who are unable to complete the FAFSA and/or California Dream Act Application or who are enrolled in less than half-time (6 units), may be able to apply for a private loan. Private Education Loans are available for domestic and international students. Inquire at the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office for lenders that accept international applicants.

  • GPS MIA Program requires a total of 98 completed credit units; 48 completed credit units each year; 16 credit units per term.
