  1. The Cost of Attendance (COA) does not include the Document fee of $100. COA and award packages are automatically adjusted for incoming students.

  2. The Cost of Attendance (COA) for the academic year includes the UC Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) of $3,855. Students may opt out of the UC Student Health Insurance Plan.   3. Non-California resident and international students are not charged a Non-Resident Supplemental Tuition cost. Non-California residents will be considered for Federal Direct Loans only. International students will also be billed a one-time International Student Visa Administration fee of $100. International students may apply for Private Education Loans to assist with educational costs.

  4. The MPH California Resident Basic Budget Total (Year 1 of 2) is $60,088. The MPH Non-California Resident Basic Budget Total is $77,204. The MPH California Resident Basic Budget Total (Year 2 of 2) is $43,855. The MPH Non-California Resident Basic Budget Total (Year 2 of 2) is $56,303. Non-California Resident students enrolled in the MPH Program are charged the Non-California Resident Supplemental Tuition included in their per credit unit rate. A per credit unit discount is applied to California Residents as a Fellowship award on the backend by Graduate Division. This discount brings the California Resident per credit unit cost down from $1,000 to $611.

  6. California Resident MPH students pay $611 per credit unit and Non-California Resident students pay $1,000 per credit unit. The first academic year is based on 12 credit units Fall term, 12 credit units Winter term, 12 credit units Spring term and 8 credit units Summer term. Students in their second year will take between 20-28 credit units. The MPH Program requires 64 completed credit units and is completed between 15-18 months.

Please keep in mind, the Cost of Attendance listed above is based on actual student average expenses.

  • Students may submit Cost of Attendance Add-On forms with appropriate documentation for rent and utilities, transportation costs, computer purchases and/or increased books and supplies. Submission of a request does not guarantee an approval.

  • Financial Aid and Scholarships Office provides Federal Direct Unsubsidized and Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loans and requires the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Private Education Loans are available for domestic and international students. Inquire at the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office for lenders that accept international applicants. Your Major Department and/or the Graduate Division may provide other forms of financial support. Master of Public Health. You may be required to complete and submit the FAFSA to be considered for some types of graduate awards. FAFSAs are available beginning October 1st every year. Priority funding deadline is March 2nd every year.

  • Students who are unable to complete the FAFSA and/or California Dream Act Application or who are enrolled in less than half-time (6 units), may be able to apply for a private loan. Private Education Loans are available for domestic and international students. Inquire at the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office for lenders that accept international applicants.
