  1. The Cost of Attendance (COA) does not include the Document fee of $100. COA and award packages are automatically adjusted for incoming students.

  2. The Cost of Attendance (COA) for the academic year includes the UC Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) of $4,005 and as part of the UC Student Health Insurance Early Start Plan, the Summer premium is $601.57. Students may opt out of the UC Student Health Insurance Plan. For additional UC SHIP information, visit https://shwadmin.ucsd.edu/uc-ship/index.html.

  3. Non-California resident and international students are not charged a Non-Resident Supplemental Tuition cost. Non-California residents will be considered for Federal Direct Loans only. International students will also be billed a one-time International Student Visa Administration fee of $100. International students may apply for Private Education Loans to assist with educational costs.

  4. The MS-CSS (Full-Time, 12-Month, Summer Start Program) California and Non-California Resident Basic Budget Total is $81,924. Students enrolled in the MS-CSS Program are not charged Non-California Resident Supplemental Tuition.

  5. The COA above is based on a student living off-campus. A student living on-campus or living with a parent will have a different COA and can refer to the graduate student cost of attendance budgets for the various components and costs Graduate Students Cost of Attendance (ucsd.edu).

  6. MS-CSS (Full-Time, 12-Month, Summer Start Program) students pay $12,200 program costs for Summer and $36,600 program costs for the academic year. Summer term is based on 4 credit units taken. The academic year is based on 6 credit units Fall term, 6 credit units Winter term, and 6 credit units Spring term. Actual units taken may vary based on each student’s enrollment. The 12-month Summer Start MS-CSS Program requires 55 credit units for completion.

  7. The Miscellaneous personal expenses category will be adjusted, along with federal financial aid for students enrolled less than half-time (i.e. less than 6 units). Miscellaneous personal expenses are indirect costs that are not billed to your student account.

  8. Students with Dependents will be given a separate housing allowance in their cost of attendance.
